HAMDEN — A 30-year-old Hamden man who organized a “meeting” with a woman on a dating app ended up being robbed and beaten, according to police.
Capt. Ronald Smith said police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and North Street just before midnight Saturday on the report of an armed street robbery.
When the victim went to the meeting place, he was approached by two individuals who demanded his belongings.
“One of the individuals was brandishing a firearm,” Smith said. “The victim was subsequently struck on the back of the head with the firearm. Several items were stolen, including the victim’s wallet, money, credit cards and cell phone.”
The individuals responsible for the armed street robbery were described as black males with thin builds, between 18 and 22 years old. Both wore bandanas covering their mouths.
The Hamden Police Department Detective Division is conducting the investigation.
