The murder of a teenage student who was stabbed in daylight has pushed the rate of violent deaths in London above that of last year, according to analysis by The Times.
Youssef Karim Hasan Al-Bayjani, 17, was attacked by a gang outside a fast-food shop in central London at lunchtime on Tuesday. He was the seventh teenager to be murdered in the city in a month and his death is the 104th this year up to September 11, compared with 103 to the same date last year.
