A man in his 40s is due to appear before Cork District Court later this morning charged in relation to the murder of 55-year-old Paul Jones.
The body of Mr Jones was found at a house in Cork city last weekend.
The man had been detained at Mayfield Garda Station since his arrest on Tuesday.
A woman in her 50s, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, remains in custody at Togher Garda Station.
Mr Jones was found in the living room of his rented home on Bandon Road in Cork City last Saturday morning by his son, who had become concerned about his well-being.
A post mortem examination last Sunday saw the garda investigation upgraded to one of murder.
It is understood Mr Jones, who was originally from Cahergal in Ballyvolane, was stabbed a number of times.
The house and nearby area remained cordoned off until yesterday morning.
Garda crime scene investigators spent four days forensically examining the scene.
On Wednesday, investigating gardaí, led by Superintendent Michael Comyns, renewed their appeal for witnesses and dash cam footage.
They said they were specifically interested in an hour-long period between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Wednesday last week.
