A man being held for questioning about the murder 13 years ago of Aidan Kelly in Blackwater in Co Clare, is being held in custody for a further three days.
The man, aged in his late 30s, was arrested on Tuesday evening and is being questioned about the murder of 19-year-old Mr Kelly who was found with a number of gunshot wounds in a rural laneway near Ardnacrusha on 10 May, 2006.
However, the murder was never solved and this was the first arrest in the case in 13 years.
Following a court application last night, the suspect’s period of detention has now been extended for a further 72 hours.
He is being detained at Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick.
