With her new album The Practice of Love out this Friday, September 13th, Jenny Hval has shared one final preview. The new track, ‘Accident’, comes with a video directed by regular collaborator Zia Anger.
As usual with a Hval track, ‘Accident’ is loaded with ideas, this time taking the form of a sort of dialogue between friends. With hallucinogenic synths forming a web of intrigue, we hover in the scene as Jenny describes the conversation; “To her friend she finds herself saying:/ I wonder how I have managed to avoid conceiving/ you know, by accident/ so many years, so little fruit.” Eavesdropping on this comfortable conversation between friends, we feel pulled into their privacy, wanting to know more – a not uncommon feeling in a Hval piece.
