A Cedar Rapids teenager is in critical condition after an early morning accident in southwest Cedar Rapids.
According to a release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, authorities responded to a one-vehicle accident just west of the intersection of J Street and 66th Avenue SW just after 2 a.m. this morning.
When they arrived on the scene, emergency personnel found a 2010 Suzuki Kizashi in a field. The vehicle was “fully involved in fire.” A bystander had removed 19-year-old Amadea M. Temple of Cedar Rapids from the vehicle and officers from the Cedar Rapids Police Department immediately started to care for her. Temple suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Cedar Rapids Police say Temple is a suspect in a case of several vehicles being struck in a parking lot in the 200 block of Kirkwood Court SW before the accident at J Street and 66th Avenue.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
