STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed after being run over by a motorist in Manhattan early Sunday morning, according to police.
The 20-year-old was pronounced dead on the FDR Drive by EMS workers at about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, according to police.
Police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision on the FDR Drive in the vicinity of Clinton Street. Upon arrival, responding officers found the motorcyclist, who was riding a 2012 Yamaha motorcycle, unconscious with trauma to the head and body.
The preliminary investigation conducted by NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad determined that the the deceased motorcyclist was traveling uptown on the FDR Drive in an alleged reckless manner with other uninvolved motorcycles, which caused him to fall onto the roadway, police said.
He was struck by a 2008 Infiniti, police said. Gamal Ibrahim, 20, of Amsterdam Avenue was arrested and charged with being aggravated unlicensed operator, police said.
