Bromsgrove ambulance staff in search of donor match for seven-year-old Finn – Bromsgrove Standard

AMBULANCE staff from Bromsgrove are trying to find a donor match for a little boy who desperately needs a transplant.

Seven-year-old Finn Hill has a rare and life-threatening condition where his immune system begins to damage his own tissues and organs.

His only hope of a cure is a stem cell transplant from a perfectly matched donor.

Clinical team mentors Abi Coombs, Rurth Hodgson and technician Carlone Hadley have organised a tri-service open day at Bromsgrove Fire and Police Station on Saturday, August 31.

Visitors will be able to sign up as a blood stem cell donor and do a simple mouth swab test – in hope of finding a match – at the event which runs from 12pm to 4pm.

Caroline said: “Finn’s story is one that has captured our attention and our hearts.

“He’s been battling this condition for three years of his short life already.

“Organising ambulance representation at the tri-service open day is the least we could do to ensure Finn gets as much help as possible to find a stem cell match to save his life.”

Donor needed: All the staff and Finn together.

“If you aren’t already on the UK Stem Cell Register and are free please come along.”
