Basildon Burns Avenue: Armed police and air ambulance attend stabbing near supermarket car park – Essex Live

Pictures from the scene show an air ambulance that has landed in a supermarket car park.

A helicopter from East and Herts Air Ambulance was called to the scene after a man was stabbed this afternoon.

The incident, which saw a man in his 30s stabbed, happened in Burns Avenue, adjacent to the retail car park that caters to several stores.

Essex Police were called by the East of England Ambulance Service at 2pm today, (Wednesday, August 14).

Photographs from the scene show an air ambulance had to land in the area near to the back of the car park, in the Aldi supermarket.

The retail car park is adjacent to Burns Avenue

Witnesses initially believed the emergency services were responding to a crash but Essex Police have confirmed a stabbing has taken place in a nearby road.

Officers are in attendance and are searching the area, confirms a spokesperson for the force.

The victim has been rushed to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

No arrests have been made.

A crash took place earlier in High Road, near to the incident, however, is unrelated to the stabbing in Burns Avenue. The accident resulted in non-serious injuries.


Initially the air ambulance was believed to be in response to the road traffic collision but Essex Police confirm it was called to the man injured from stab wounds.
