Police investigate shootings in Hamden – CTPost

HAMDEN — Police are investigating a string of shootings that took place between Thursday evening and early morning Saturday.

According to the Hamden Police Department, about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the area of State Street and Ridge Road on the report of shots fired.

Police said witnesses reported that the occupants of two motor vehicles were shooting at each other. Witnesses further reported that numerous gunshots were fired, police said. There were no reported injuries.

Officers searched the area, but were unsuccessful at locating the suspects. Remnants of the shooting were located along State Street.

The next incident took place about 10:15p.m. Friday, when Hamden Police responded to the area of Warner Street on the report of a shooting.

Police said an investigation revealed that multiple gunshots were fired in the area of Warner Street and Mott Street. Bullets reportedly struck several parked vehicles on Warner Street and Mott Street.

The final reported shooting took place 2 a.m. Saturday. Police said officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Hamden Park Drive.

Police said investigators found that the shooting involved occupants in two motor vehicles. According to police, numerous gunshots were fired in the vicinity of Dixwell Avenue, between Hamden Park Drive and First Street.

Two bullet holes were located inside of a Dixwell Avenue residence, police said. One of the bullets reportedly entered a family room, where three small children were sleeping. Another bullet entered a wall a few feet above one of the children, police said. There were no reported injuries.
