A 64-year-old Shreveport man was charged with murder Saturday afternoon in connection to a shooting that allegedly stemmed from a parking dispute.
Ronald Parker was taken into custody after 3 p.m. and later charged with second-degree murder, Shreveport police confirmed. He was booked at the Shreveport City Jailn the hours following.
The Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 40-year-old Roderick J. Gaut. The Shreveport man died around 3:50 p.m. Saturday while being treated at Ochsner LSU Health Hospital.
The shooting incident occurred on in the 1200 block of East Washington Street.
The suspect reportedly exited his home upset about a parking situation, Shreveport Police Cpl. Marcus Hines told The Times.
The victim and his family were in the neighborhood after attending a funeral, Hines confirmed.
