WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Maryland State Police say two fugitives are in custody after they led troopers on an early morning chase, Saturday, using a stolen car.

According to officials, a Princess Anne State Trooper tried to stop a driver, later identified as Shaun Oxendine of Salisbury, around 6 a.m. for traffic violations near Route 13. The car did not stop and instead Oxendine fled north on Route 13 into Wicomico County.

Police say the car’s passenger, later identified as Brittney Daye of Parsonsburg, was seen throwing things out of the car. The Trooper found out the car they were driving was reported stolen though the Salisbury Police Department.

Oxendine and Daye continued north on the Route 13 Bypass. Troopers then used stop sticks until the car came to a stop on the Bypass near Old Ocean City Road. Officials say 40-year-old Oxendine got out of the car and ran into a wooded area with several police behind him. Meanwhile, 29-year-old Daye was arrested at the scene because she had several outstanding warrants.

Oxendine reportedly had several outstanding warrants and a parole retake warrant. He was found shortly after, taken into custody and later turned over to the Department of Corrections. Police say more charges are forthcoming on Oxendine and Daye.

The Somerset County Sheriffs Office helped Troopers find several items of contraband that had been thrown from the car during the chase.
