Watch the shocking moment violent thug ferociously attacks ambulance staff – VIDEO – Express
The ambulance staff were called to treat Matthew Fealey, 34, in Nottingham city centre on January 27 by members of the public as they were concerned for his overall welfare. The video footage shows that once in the back of the ambulance Mr Fealey became violent and lunged at one of the paramedics. The pair of ambulance workers attempted to restrain Mr Fealey but he continued to act violently, thrashing and tussling with both paramedics before being wrestled to the ground.
When the police arrive and enter the back of the vehicle the pair of paramedics can be seen sitting on the assailant.
The police arrested and charged Mr Fealey with assault.
He was given a 17-week prison sentence, suspended for 12-months after he admitted the charge at Nottingham Magistrates Court.
Fealey was also ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid work and pay £350 in compensation.
Kelvin Langford local security management specialist from East Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Our Frontline colleagues, as well as our team in our 999 control room, signed up to this job to help people not be assaulted and they deserve to be treated with respect.
“This unprovoked attack is a particularly shocking incident, and as a result, the CCTV is difficult to watch.
“Thankfully, on this occasion, our ambulance crew were not badly injured and have made a full recovery.
“Assaults on our staff are absolutely unacceptable and we take a zero-tolerance approach towards anyone who verbally or physically assaults them.”
