A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for burglarizing a Walker County pawn shop earlier this month and stealing nearly 30 guns, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced Friday.
About 27 guns were reported stolen July 1 from Outlaw Gun and Pawn at 13088 Highway 78 in Jasper, according to the ATF, which is offering a $2,500 reward that is being matched by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the trade association for the firearms industry.
ATF investigators are conducting an inventory to determine exactly how many guns were stolen.
The reward is part of a partnership between the ATF and the NSSF where the trade association matches reward money put up by the agency.
“ATF works closely with members of the firearms industry to curb the criminal acquisition and misuse of firearms,” ATF Special Agent in Charge Marcus Watson said in a statement. “ATF’s Crime Gun Intelligence will leverage investigative resources combined with community partnerships to recover the stolen firearms.”
Anyone with information on the burglary was asked to contact the ATF at 888-ATF-TIPS (888-283-8477.) Information can also be sent to [email protected], on the ATF website at www.atf.gov/contact/atftips, anonymously via the Reportit app on the Google Play and Apple App stores or via www.reportit.com.
