Police chase through San Jose Airport looks like a scene out of ‘Fast & Furious’ – SF Gate
A high-speed chase around San Jose sent sparks flying at Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport.
The chase started near Tully Road and Highway 101 just before midnight, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office. Speeds ramped up to around 110 miles per hour as the chase continued on State Route 87, reported KTVU. Then the driver took the freeway offramp toward the airport and sped through the departures lanes of SJC.
Video shared with local TV stations shows the fleeing car soaring over a speed bump, crashing down and lighting off sparks before zooming out of view.
Here’s a second video from KPIX:
There was no damage to SJC facilities, passengers or personnel, said airport spokesperson Rosemary Barnes.
The car crashed near Southwest Expressway and De Rose Way (nowhere near the airport, by the way), ending the chase. The three suspects tried to run from officers on foot, but two of them were caught. Anthony Zavala, 18, was charged on suspicion of evading police, stealing a car, and resisting arrest.
Officers found an airsoft gun, a shaved key and stolen IDs and credit cards in the vehicle.
