Croydon stabbing: Murder arrest after pregnant mother knifed to death and baby loses fight for life
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a pregnant mother was knifed to death and her baby lost his fight for life.
Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, 26, was eight months’ pregnant when she was fatally stabbed at her house in Thornton Heath, Croydon on June 29.
Paramedics managed to deliver her baby son as she lay dying.
The child, named Riley, was given a 50/50 chance of survival but later died in hospital.
Detectives investigating the double murder arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of murder on Thursday.
He has been taken to a central London police station where he remained tonight.
The attack took place in Ms Fauvrelle’s bedroom while her whole family was at home and relatives heard her screams at around 3.30am.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of murder previously.
One, aged 37, was released with no further action, and a second, aged 29, has been released on bail until early August.
A Metropolitan Police statement said: “On Thursday July 11 detectives investigating the murder of Kelly Mary Fauvrelle and her baby son, Riley, arrested a 25-year-old male on suspicion of murder.
“The male has been taken to a central London police station where he remains at this time. Inquiries continue.”
