BBC Ambulance viewers are heartbroken to learn that a patient who featured on last week’s episode has died.

Winnie captured the hearts of the nation when North West Ambulance crew were sent to help her.

The 103-year-old was suffering from confusion and believed that she was in a dungeon.

When paramedics Alex and Sam arrived on the scene, they soon realised that Winnie was quite the character.

Introducing himself, Alex said: “Hello I’m from the ambulance.”

Asked what her secret to a long life was, Winnie said: “Smile and the world smiles with you. Weep and you weep alone.”
