The Independent Investigations Office is investigating to determine whether the man’s injuries were caused by police actions or inactions
A man was sent to hospital Thursday night after falling from a third-floor window of a North Vancouver condominium.
North Vancouver RCMP were called to the condo complex in the 2600-block of Fromme Road just after 8 p.m. after receiving a report that an armed man had broken into an apartment. When officers arrived, they spotted a man, matching the description provided by the complainant, hanging from a window.
Police say the man “dropped to the ground and was arrested without incident.”
He was taken to a hospital and treated for what police described as serious injuries. The man, whose name was not released, remains in police custody pending charges.
The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia, a civilian body that investigates all officer-related incidents that result in serious harm or death, is investigating to determine whether the man’s injuries were caused by police actions or inactions.
The IIO is asking anyone who witnessed the incident to contact its witness line at 1-855-446-8477.
