Police are asking the public to help find a man who went missing more than a week ago outside of Fort Fraser.

Michael Gregory Skene, who goes by his middle name, was last seen on June 9 while leaving the Nautley Store outside Fort Fraser, located near Fraser Lake.

Skene was in the area mushroom picking and had set up camp nearby. His tent has since been found, but Skene and his personal belongings weren’t inside.

Search crews have scoured the area by ground and air, but there has been no sign of Skene. Officers now believe Skene may be hitchhiking to Vancouver Island.

Skene has been described as white, about 6-foot-1 and weighing 165 pounds. He has blue eyes, brown hair and a slim build.

Anyone who recognizes Skene is asked to contact Fraser Lake RCMP at 250-699-7777.
