AN ACCIDENT on the A27 involving four vehicles is causing serious delays to traffic.
The crash happened on the A27 Eastbound just after Devils Dyke Road – the Hove turn off – at about 7am this morning.
One injury has been reported so far.
Ambulance crews are on the scene.
A police spokesman said: “There has been an accident on the A27 Eastbound near the junction with the A23.
“Four vehicles are involved in the collision.
“Ambulance services are on the scene.
“We have reports of one man suffering with an arm injury so far.”
An AA spokesman said: “Lane blocked and queueing traffic due to multi-vehicle accident on A27 Eastbound after Devils Dyke Road (Hove turn off).
“Lane one (of two) is blocked, there have been reported that 4 vehicles have been involved in the accident.
“There are severe delays of 39 minutes and delays are increasing on the A27 eastbound between the A270 Upper Shoreham Road and the A23 London Road.
“There is an average speed of five mph.”
Bus services in the area have also been affected.
A spokesman from Brighton and Hove Buses said: “Due to an accident by Falmer causing delays, all BH28, BH29 and BH29B services are terminating and starting from the Old Steine in Brighton.”
They later added: “Due to the accident at Falmer causing delays, our BH25 services are operating between Lewes Road Garage and the Universities only.
“Our BH25X services are operating between the Old Steine and the Universities only.”
