Burleson police shut down all southbound lanes of Interstate 35W, as well as the service road, to investigate two traffic accidents Sunday evening.
The first crash occurred around 6:15 p.m., police said, when a man stopped near the Bethesda Road exit to help another driver with an engine issue. As he placed cones on the road to block traffic, a passing vehicle struck him.
A helicopter took the man to a hospital.
Several miles north, officials were called to a second accident near Exit 3B around 9:15 p.m., police said.
The second accident was fatal, according to Burleson police. They did not provide details about what occurred.
