The suspect in a stabbing at a Surrey banquet hall has turned himself in to police, Mounties said Thursday.
The arrest comes just a day after Surrey RCMP released a photo of a man wanted in connection with the assault, which occurred at the crowded Dhaliwal Banquet Hall around 10 p.m. on Feb. 15.
“At the time of this occurrence, the banquet hall was hosting an event with approximately 500 people in attendance,” police said in a news release Tuesday. “Investigators believe that there are people in the public who can assist this investigation.”
The suspect turned himself in on Wednesday afternoon. Police have not indicated whether he is the same man from the released photo, or if he is known to police.
Charges have not yet been laid and the investigation continues. Mounties are still seeking witnesses, and urge anyone who has not yet spoken with investigators to contact Surrey RCMP.
The victim, a 20-year-old man who has not been identified, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
