Live Brentwood High Street updates as police and ambulance rush to ‘death of homeless man’ – Essex Live
Police and paramedics have rushed to a serious incident on Brentwood High Street with part of the pavement cordoned off after a man was found dead.
The heavy emergency services presence was seen on the High Street earlier this morning (Monday, April 15) with a number of witnesses claiming that a homeless man had died on the busy main road.
One witness from the scene described how the outside of Next and Halfords was taped off as officers stood guard.
She said: “I was driving past. There was an ambulance on the road outside and a police van parked on the pavement and outside of Halfords is all taped off with several officers all standing outside.”
Another witness from Rossi Ice Cream said: “We had no idea what has happened. I arrived at 9am to open up and haven’t been outside since. It was the window cleaner who told us something was happening. “
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police were contacted at 8.55am today, Monday April 15, following reports that a man had suffered a cardiac arrest on High Street, Brentwood.
“Officers and paramedics attended the scene but, sadly, the man was pronounced dead.
“The man’s death is not believed to be suspicious. Officers remain at the scene.”
