Burglar fled after breaking into Wallsend home and being confronted by woman and dog – Chronicle Live

A burglar was scared off by a woman and her dog after he broke into her home in Wallsend.

Police are now asking those in the North Tyneside town to ensure their doors and windows are locked to keep thieves out.

At about 8.40pm on Friday, February 15, it is believed a man went into a home in Lesbury Avenue through an unlocked door, unaware the homeowner and her dog were inside.

After seeing with the woman and her dog, the man has then fled the scene empty-handed.

He is described as having dark hair, wearing dark clothing and had facial hair.

Officers have issued a reminder to make sure Wallsend residents keep their homes secure.

They are also asking for anyone with information, or who might have seen the offender leaving the scene, to come forward and call Northumbria Police on 101, quoting reference 1235 150219.
