Car overturns in motorway smash – Coventry Telegraph

A man has been taken to hospital with multiple injuries after the car he was in overturned on the motorway.

Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway of the M42 to reports of a single vehicle collision.

It happened around 1.40pm between junctions nine and ten in Warwickshire.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Staffordshire to the scene. A private ambulance crew also stopped at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews found the driver of the car, a man, partially ejected from his vehicle, which had come to rest on its roof.

“The man was treated for multiple injuries, not believed to be life-threatening, by ambulance staff before being taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire by land ambulance.

“Nobody else was injured in the incident.”

Two lanes were closed on the motorway which caused severe delays in the area.

Lane two was opened a short while after the collision, but the inside lane was closed which did allow for traffic to pass.

It was the first of two collisions in the area, with another shortly after on the entry slip road at junction nine.
