Two Dallas Fire Rescue medics were hospitalized after a pickup truck ran a red light early Sunday morning and slammed into the driver’s side of the ambulance in which they were riding. The pickup driver died as a result of his injuries.
According to NBCDFW, the two medics were in stable condition at a local hospital following the crash. The television station said the 28-year-old driver was also transported for treatment, but later dies as a result of his injuries.
The pickup truck driver, was allegedly driving at a high rate of speed in a Dodge Ram truck when he ran a red light and hit the cab of the ambulance during the 3:15 a.m. crash, NBCDFW reported.
The Dallas Morning News reported the driver of the ambulance was expected to be OK and released from the hospital after treatment. The medic in the passenger side, where the impact happened, was more seriously hurt and was admitted for treatment and observations, the newspaper reported.
