A man who was fatally struck Friday while crossing a South Side street was identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

William Thomas Everitt, 47, was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m. in the 10400 block of Roosevelt, according to preliminary information from a San Antonio police report.

Everitt was walking across Roosevelt from east to west when he was struck by a silver Chevrolet Malibu traveling south, investigators said.

The driver told police that he did not see Everitt until he appeared directly in front of the truck.

Investigators said the driver stopped immediately and tried to help Everitt.

There are no pending charges related to the crash, police said.
