A town centre road was closed for more than an hour following an accident involving a car and a female pedestrian this evening.
Stockwell Street in Leek was shut due to the accident, which took place at around 5.15pm today (Friday January 25).
A spokeswoman said: “We were called at 5.15pm to reports of an RTC involving a female pedestrian and a car.
“The female is conscious and breathing and with the ambulance service.”
The accident is understood to have taken place on or near the zebra crossing, according to several members of the public.
The road was shut between St Edwards Church and the crossroads with Buxton Road and Ball Haye Street according to traffic data company Inrix.
Inrix has confirmed the road has reopened as of 6.30pm – with some residual delays continuing on surrounding routes.
