NOLANVILLE, Texas (KWTX) Emergency crews responded Saturday night to a fatal auto-pedestrian accident at Farm-to-Market 439 and Quarry Road just outside of Nolanville.
According to authorities, the call came in at 6:50 p.m. Troopers say a 2016 Dodge car was headed eastbound when the 32-year-old woman walked into the path of the vehicle and was struck.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The impact of the crash sent the Dodge car into the ditch. The windshield and front bumper of the car were severely damaged.
The driver and passenger in the Dodge car were not injured, officials said.
A News 10 reporter spotted about a dozen emergency vehicles including DPS troopers.
In a press release, Texas Highway Patrol issued a reminder to the dangers for pedestrians on or around a highway.
“Avoid walking near any roadway if possible. If it is necessary, wear light colored clothing and walk against the traffic as far from the traffic lanes as possible,” part of the release stated.
Officials say the road was closed for nearly two hours during the investigation.
