Woman seriously injured after being hit by car as major route remains closed – Liverpool Echo
A woman has been injured and one of St Helens’ major routes closed due to a “serious accident” causing traffic chaos for Christmas shoppers.
Merseyside Police said the A58 Linkway East was shut in both directions after a crash near to Ravenshead Retail Park in the town centre.
An air ambulance helicopter, two ambulances and three rapid response vehicles, plus police vehicles, attended the scene at around 2.20pm.
A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said one woman in her 30s had been hurt, but her condition was not yet known.
Police said the road was closed from Peasley Cross Lane, near Kwik Fit and Halfords, to A570 St Helens Linkway at Cannington Roundabout.
Motorists have been advised that the road, which also lies between B&Q and a KFC restaurant, has been closed following the “road traffic collision”.
The force said: “Emergency services are currently at the scene. Please avoid the area at this time and plan your journeys accordingly.”
