A19 closed and one person taken to hospital following multi-vehicle accident – Gazette Live

One person has been taken to hospital and the A19 northbound closed following a rush-hour accident.

Police were called to the collision which involved a truck and a number of cars on the A19 near Ingleby Arncliffe at about 7.40am on Tuesday.

The busy road was closed from the A172 Ingleby Cross to the A67 Crathorne, North Yorkshire .

Traffic site Inrix initially reported that one lane out of the two was closed following the crash however a full closure was implemented at around 8.45am to aid recovery work, traffic site Inrix added.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service confirmed it had been to the scene.

A spokeswoman for the service said: “We sent an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle.

“One patient was taken to hospital.”

The spokeswoman confirmed the patient had been taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

The person’s condition and injuries are not known.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to a collision involving a truck and a number of cars on the A19 near Ingleby Arncliffe at about 7.40am this morning.

“No one is believed to be seriously injured. However, the northbound carriageway was closed due to the amount of debris on the road, and to allow the vehicles involved to be recovered safely.

“We’re grateful to motorists for their patience and understanding while the emergency services worked at the scene.”

The road was fully reopened by 10.15am.
