A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening two people with a knife as they sat inside a van in east London.

Footage from the scene appears to show him arguing with the men, then taking out a knife and brandishing it against the window.

They drive off to get away from him as the incident seems to escalate.

Footage of what happened was shared 14,000 times in a bid to track down the attacker.

Police said they arrested a man, aged 50, today.

A Met Police spokesman said: ‘On December 16, police arrested a man in connection with an incident in Tower Hamlets.

‘Police were called to Temple Street at 11.48am on December 14 to reports of a man threatening the occupants of a vehicle with a knife.

‘It was reported that two men were sitting in a van when they were approached by a male who then threatened them, jabbing a knife against the window of the vehicle.

‘A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and a public order offence. He has been taken into custody at an east London police station.’
