The stolen car was spiked on River Rd on Monday afternoon.
A 12-year-old driver and four teenage friends led police on a chase in a stolen car on Monday afternoon.
But the joyride ended with spiked tyres and five arrests on a busy Hamilton road.
The chase began after police were alerted to a car excessively speeding in St Andrews shortly before 4pm, Waikato police Senior Sergeant Mike Henwood said.
“During the pursuit it was discovered that the vehicle had been recently stolen,” Henwood said.
The car was spiked on River Road and it ran to a stop near Thames Street.
A resident said Thames St was blocked by a car with a flat tyre around 4pm, but it had since reopened.
Two of the passengers were 13, one was 14 and the other 15, Henwood said.
All five have been referred to Youth Aid.
