GREENVILLE (WITN) – A man spent the Thanksgiving holiday behind bars after police say he forced a man to drive him to a gas station and allegedly tried to rob him.
Greenville police responded to the Speedway Gas Station around 6 p.m. on Thursday in reference to an armed robbery.
Police say a man told them he was in his car at the Sheetz on Firetower Road when the suspect, 27-year-old Marquise Utsey got into the man’s car and implied he had a gun.
Police say the victim tells them he was then forced to drive to the Speedway where Utsey wanted him to withdraw cash.
The victim was able to alert cashiers at the gas station who then called police.
Utesy is facing second degree kidnapping charges as well as common law robbery.
An Eastern Carolina police department is responding to the scene of an armed robbery at a gas station.
The Greenville Police Department tells WITN their officers were called to the Speedway gas station on Stantonsburg Road for an armed robbery on Thanksgiving Day.
The department says they received the call around 6 p.m. on Thursday.
