Three men have been arrested following a dramatic police chase through Tameside.
Officers used a ‘stinger’ spike strip to stop the white BMW 1 Series – the strip also ‘stung’ a police car pursuing it after it broke.
The car was spotted by police in Hyde at round 9.15pm on Monday night.
It failed to stop, and a chase – involving GMP Traffic, NPAS Barton and local units – unfolded.
The BMW was eventually stopped on Furnace Street in Dukinfield after the ‘stinger’ was deployed and popped one of the front tyres.
But the driver and two passengers fled the scene.
They were chased on foot by officers.
GMP confirmed that a 20-year old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving, and two boys, aged 17, were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
All three have since been released under investigation.
A force spokesman said: “Shortly after 9.14pm on Monday police in Hyde pursued a white BMW 1 series after it failed to stop for police.
