There were long delays on the M1 this evening both north and southbound after an accident and a vehicle fire.
One lane was closed and there was slow traffic due to the fire on the M1 northbound from junction 27 A608 Mansfield Road (Hucknall/Underwood) to J28 A38 Alfreton Road (Alfreton/Mansfield).
Southbound on the M1, an accident closed one lane between junction 25 A52 Brian Clough Way (Nottingham / Derby ) to junction 24 A453 (Nottingham South/East Midlands Airport).
Highways England announced at around 6.40pm that all lanes north and southbound had been reopened following the incidents..
Police were also earlier dealing with a serious incident on the A50 in Derby.
Traffic monitoring company Inrix said the main road near Aston-on-Trent was blocked eastbound between junction two for Alvaston and junction 24a of the M1 near East Midlands Airport.
