RECAP: Air ambulance lands as police incident closes one of Gloucestershire’s busiest roads, linking to the M5
A section of one of Gloucestershire’s busiest roads was closed in both directions because of a police incident.
It happened shortly before 2pm today and led to the A417 Brockworth Bypass being closed in both directions until around 4.40pm.
The road was closed to allow the air ambulance to land.
It was affecting travel between Little Witcombe and Hucclecote and having a knock-on effect in the area.
There was trapped traffic on the westbound carriageway of the bypass that is being held.
Gloucestershire police statement:
At around 1.50pm today, Sunday 18 November, emergency services were called to the A417 near Zoons Court roundabout with a report that a woman had fallen from a bridge. The woman has been taken to Southmead Hospital via air ambulance with suspected serious injuries.
Members of the public are asked to find alternative routes while road closures are in place.
A417 closed northbound, says Highways England:
There is congestion from the bypass to the Air Balloon Roundabout.
