One person was killed and another injured when a State Highway Patrol pursuit ended in an accident on Blanchard Avenue in Findlay late Saturday night, according to area media reports.
The patrol reported that troopers attempted to stop a car on Interstate 75 near the West Main Cross Street exit at 11:22 p.m. when the car drove away. The chase ended at 11:27 p.m. when the driver lost control of the car, which struck a utility pole at the intersection of Blanchard Avenue and Fremont Avenue.
According to media reports, the patrol said the driver, a 33-year-old man from Mount Blanchard, died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash. A passenger, a 44-year-old Findlay woman, was taken by medical helicopter to a Toledo hospital.
No other details of the pursuit were being released Sunday night. The Findlay post of the State Highway Patrol referred inquiries to the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Attempts to reach that office Sunday night were unsuccessful.
