Police are appealing for information after a cash machine was blown up in an attempted robbery in Huddersfield.
At about 12.15am today (10/11) three men targeted the free-standing cash machine at the Jet petrol station, in Scar Lane, Milnsbridge.
A white Audi, possibly a Q3 or Q5 model, has driven onto the forecourt and the driver, who had his face covered, opened the boot and ran a pipe that pumped flammable gas into the machine.
The gas was then ignited resulting in an explosion which caused significant damage to the cash machine. The cashbox remained intact and no money was taken.
A second suspect was shown on CCTV recovering the pipeline back into the boot. A third suspect returned to the vehicle and the offenders drove off.
Detective Constable Christopher Eglen, of Kirklees District CID, said: “I am hoping to speak to anyone who has any knowledge of this incident or can assist with our enquiries.
“Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact myself at Huddersfield CID via 101 quoting crime reference number 13180564061 or alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
