A man suspected of robbing a gas station and leading police on a foot pursuit in Oxnard was arrested Friday night, authorities said.
Shortly after 9:20 p.m., Oxnard Police Department officers were dispatched to a reported strong-arm robbery at a Shell gas station at 1901 N. Rose Ave., officials said. The gas station is located at the northwest corner with Gonzales Road.
An employee at the station told police a man had picked up several items in the convenience store and tried to leave. When the employee tried to stop him, the suspect allegedly shoved the clerk and fled, authorities said.
A responding patrol officer saw a man matching the suspect’s description at the intersection of Valerosa Way and Sonata Drive. The crossing is in a residential area across the street from the gas station.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Dominique Hendrix of Oxnard, was apprehended after a short foot pursuit, police said. He reportedly had with him items stolen from the gas station. Hendrix was arrested on suspicion of robbery, a felony offense, as well as resisting an officer and possessing drug paraphernalia, the department reported.
