Police have returned to the home of a missing mother-of-five following new information in their investigation.
Sarah Wellgreen, 46, was last seen in the Bazes Shaw area of New Ash Green, Kent, where she lives, on October 9.
Today, police forced entry into her property by smashing the glazed front door at around 8.30am this morning.
According to witnesses, they have remained there since, with a forensics van parked outside.
‘I saw about six officers breaking into the house. I knew it must be something to do with the search,’ said a female neighbour, who asked not to be named.
‘They just got out the van and went straight to the house – it was obvious what they were doing as they were going straight there.
‘I was in my car and all I could see was an object in the air, I didn’t know what it was.
‘I’ve not seen anyone come out though – they’ve been in there all morning.’
It is understood police have returned to the property following ‘information received by the investigation team’, while sniffer dogs have also been taken into the house.
Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Chris Greenstreet said: ‘Officers are continuing to search a number of areas in north and west Kent in connection with identified lines of enquiry.
‘Following information received by the investigation team, a further search of a property in New Ash Green is being carried out on the morning of November 2, 2018.’
A second residential address in New Ash Green is also being searched as part of the ongoing investigation police confirmed.
Ms Wellgreen has not contacted family members or used her bank cards since she was reported missing on October 11.
The mum has since also missed the birthday of one of her children.
Last week police stated that they would be treating her disappearance as a ‘potential murder’ and are continuing to urge anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Superintendent Paul Fotheringham said: ‘We are investigating the disappearance of Sarah.
‘It is entirely out of character for her to go missing and, having conducted extensive inquiries and searches, this case is now being treated as a potential murder.
‘Sarah has disappeared without a trace, the only item missing from the home is her black iPhone 4.
‘Officers have conducted extensive searches in New Ash Green and surrounding rural areas.
‘While we continue our investigation and inquiries, I would urge anybody who saw anything suspicious in the New Ash Green area at around the time Sarah went missing, that is overnight from the evening of Tuesday 9 October into the morning of Wednesday 10 October, to contact us.’
