A Gold Coast man who convinced his wife to kill herself so he could use her life insurance has been sentenced to at least five years behind bars in a landmark outcome.
Graham Robert Morant’s trial was told there was no legal precedent in the world when it came to counselling someone to take their own life.
The 69-year-old self-styled pastor was on Friday sentenced to 10 years for counselling Jennifer Morant to kill herself and six years for helping her to do it in November 2014 so he could access $1.4m in life insurance. He can apply for parole after October 2023.
More to come.
