CONCORD TWP., Miami County —
UPDATE @ 10:30 p.m.: One person is dead and four others have been taken to hospitals from the two-vehicle accident on state Route 41 in Concord Twp., Miami County.
Officials confirm the person killed is male. He was ejected in the collision and ended up in a ditch. He died at the scene, a quarter mile from Washington Road outside Troy. He has been taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
He was believed to have been driving the car that was split in two in the collision.
The accident remains under investigation.
The four people injured were first taken to Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy. At least some of them have been transferred to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, where their conditions are not known.
One victim was trapped for 30 minutes in in one of the vehicles, a multi-passenger van.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Piqua Post is investigating.
Crews were working to clear the scene, which was was expected to remain closed several hours.
