A woman is this morning being quizzed on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed in the chest.
A 38-year-old man last night underwent surgery after being rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a ‘serious assault’ in Stoke yesterday afternoon.
And a 30-year-old woman, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested at the scene and is currently in custody.
Emergency services were called to an address in Nicholls Street at around 4.25pm yesterday (October 29).
Police set up a cordon around the home as an investigation got underway.
Now an urgent appeal for witnesses has been launched.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “A woman has been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Stoke yesterday afternoon which has left a man hospitalised.
“Officers were called to Nicholls Street at around 4.25pm following reports that a man had been stabbed in the chest.
“A 30-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. She remains in police custody and inquiries are on-going.
“The victim, a 38-year-old man, was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital with serious injuries.”
