MOUNT PLEASANT – A police chase and crash has snarled traffic on Route 9A between Mount Pleasant and Greenburgh, officials said.
An accident investigation is underway between Dana Road in Hawthorne and Route 100C in Greenburgh, Mount Pleasant police said. Northbound traffic has been halted in that area.
Westchester County police started the pursuit at 11:39 a.m. on the Saw Mill River Parkway, spokesman Kieran O’Leary said. The car was wanted in connection with vehicle larcenies in Bethlehem, New York, he said.
The driver initially stopped on Route 117 before fleeing onto Route 9A southbound. A county police officer pursued and collided with another car that was heading north and turning into Home Depot near Dana Road, O’Leary said. No one had serious injuries in that crash, he said.
The driver fled into the Bronx, where the NYPD was continuing the search.
