Blackley incident: Police officer injured in serious accident forcing closure of several roads
A police officer has reportedly been injured in a serious accident in Manchester at rush hour this morning.
Several roads have been closed following the incident on Blackley New Road in the suburb of Crumpsall.
Locals have described a “major police presence” in the area, while traffic jams have formed on nearby roads.
Taking to Twitter at around 8.20am, PCSO John Cannon wrote: “Serious incident in blackley officer hurt details still coming in.
“Expect traffic delays due to road blocks.”
Transport for Greater Manchester said the road had been shut in both directions following the incident.
It tweeted: “Blackley New Road, Crumpsall closed in both directions between Riverdale Road and Mill Brow due to a police incident.”
Further details on the accident are currently unclear.
