LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police arrested a 20-year-old for DUI after he left the scene of a crash and returned while officers were investigating.
LPD said around 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning, officers responded to a hit and run accident near 17th and Y Streets.
Officers found a 2008 white Dodge Ram upon arrival, and realized it had struck the landscaping in front of a home at 1815 Y Street.
Tire marks showed the driver, Chandler Witt, accelerated quickly, lost control of the truck, and left the roadway, police said.
While officers were investigating, Witt arrived in a vehicle as a passenger, showing signs of alcohol impairment, according to LPD.
He told police he was driving during the accident and walked home to call a tow truck.
Witt took a BAC test that came back at .161, and was cited for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, and MIP.
