An officer then ran the plates and discovered that the vehicle was stolen.
Police said 22-year-old Malik Watson was behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle.
Officers put their lights and sirens on in an attempt to stop Watson, who reportedly sped onto the highway into oncoming traffic.
