0 18

A clerk at a Jeffersonville gas station was shot and killed during a robbery Thursday night, police said.

Jeffersonville Police Department Sgt. Isaac Parker said officers received a call at approximately 10:48 p.m. Thursday that stated an employee at the Stop-N-Go gas station, 2402 Allison Lane, had not been seen for several minutes while the caller was in the store.

Officers arrived and found the clerk dead in the back of the store, Parker said. An investigation found evidence that the clerk was shot during a robbery and an undisclosed amount of cash from the store was taken, Parker said.

The gas station is across the street from Jeffersonville HIgh School.

The investigation is ongoing, Parker said. The clerk has not been identified, and a suspect has not been arrested.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to contact the Jeffersonville Police Department Detective Division at 812-285-6535 or the anonymous tips line at 812-218-8477.
