A council worker has been arrested on suspicion of grooming and attempting to meet a child.

The worker was caught by the Predator Exposure group, a vigilante team that uses decoy social media accounts posing as children to catch predators.

The man arranged to meet, what he believed was a 13-year-old girl, by New Pudsey train station in Leeds on 30 September.

It was alleged by the group the man - who worked for Bradford Council - had travelled to New Pudsey train station in Leeds, West Yorks., on Sunday, September 30, to meet a girl aged 13 after communicating with her on social media. A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police said: ‘Officers from Leeds District Safeguarding Unit are investigating an offence of an adult attempting to meet a girl aged under 16 following grooming.

‘A man from Leeds was arrested on Sunday, 30 September, in Pudsey following a call from members of the public.

‘He was released on conditional bail the following day pending further enquiries.’

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: ‘We understand a man has been arrested and the police are investigating.’
